BACKGROUND:
The Secured Restoration Program at the Arkansas State Hospital (ASH) is a 16-bed competency restoration unit designed to serve individuals adjudicated incompetent to stand trial. Operated by Recovery Solutions in partnership with the Arkansas Department of Human Services, the program offers evidence-based, trauma-informed treatment focused on clinical stabilization and legal restoration. The program launched in 2025.
Philosophy:
The program is grounded in the belief that recovery is possible and that effective competency restoration must be person-centered, trauma-informed, and rooted in dignity and respect. Treatment is individualized and developed by a multidisciplinary team that emphasizes collaboration, accountability, and compassion.
Services:
Competency education and legal understanding; psychiatric evaluation and medication management; psychological assessment and diagnostic clarification; structured individual and group therapy; cognitive and behavioral skill-building; reentry and discharge planning in coordination with legal and community partners.
