BACKGROUND:
The South Carolina Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility (PRTF) program delivers a trauma-informed approach to treatment for youth with complex behavioral health needs.
Philosophy:
Our program provides 24-hour supervised residential treatment for youth experiencing serious emotional and behavioral challenges. Clinicians work closely with residents and their families or guardians to support engagement in treatment, reinforce progress, and prepare for successful transitions. Our goal is to help youth achieve stabilization, strengthen resilience, and return to their homes, schools, and communities safely and successfully, equipped with the tools needed for long-term wellness.
Services:
The SC PRTF offers a structured, therapeutic residential setting designed to promote safety, stability, and healing. Services are delivered within a secure environment that emphasizes consistency, positive relationships, psychiatric services, skill-building, and educational support to help youth develop emotional regulation, coping strategies, and healthy behaviors.
Significant Achievements:
• Achieved initial DPH licensure and TJC accreditation prior to opening the facility
• Designed and built new psychiatric residential treatment facility
