BACKGROUND:
The RISE Program (Restoring Individuals Safely and Effectively) is a detention center competency restoration program established through a collaboration between the Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities, Cobb County Sheriff’s Office, and Recovery Solutions. GA-RISE began providing services in January of 2023. It is the second Jailed-Based Competency Restoration Program in the state of Georgia.
Philosophy:
The RISE Program embraces recovery-oriented, trauma-informed care for all patients. The recovery model promotes patient choice and tailors treatment to meet individual needs based on the assessments of a multi-disciplinary treatment team. The team is comprised of – Program Administrator; Psychiatrist, Psychologist, Psych RN; Recreation Specialist; Re-Entry Specialist; Social Worker; Office Coordinator and Peer Support Specialist.
Services:
Competency restoration services for individual found incompetent to stand trial (IST), including assessment and evaluations, individualized treatment planning, individual and group treatment, psychiatric services, psychological services, medication and medication monitoring, and discharge and re-entry planning.
Significant Achievements:
- Second embedded competency restoration program in the state of Georgia.
- Implemented our electronic medical record to manage patient care.
- Incorporated peer support and specialized re-entry support in our program design.
